“Shit!” Yuo said, tumbling off the side of the boat as Tibrahim worked his magic. His wings flared out, but the boat disappeared before his eyes. There was nowhere to go, and if he were to fall below the silvery sea he’d surely be destroyed. He’d just have to hope he finds a color path to take him somewhere before his flight gives out. He flapped his wings hard to get momentum and started looking.
And looking… And looking…
His precious few minutes ran short. He didn’t see anywhere to land. He’d be left adrift and slowly pulled down…
And then his wings of light burned away… But he didn’t fall.
A path of light had opened under him.
‘An angel way.. Nobody’s seen one of these since the true celestials vanished..’
Thoughts raced through his head as he walked. Why had an angel way opened for him? Isn’t he too impure for this? Did he simply wish hard enough? Was the grand divine looking out for him? He had no answers, and he wasn’t going to get them, but it was going to be a long walk and he had plenty of time to think. Plenty of time to realize that his friends..
His friends were probably not coming back from that one. Not dead, not truly, but by the time he could do anything for them.. By the time he.. He stopped that line of thought. That was the kind of thinking he used to soothe Izzie out of. Izzie. Someone he probably won’t see again. Even if she gets out (and surely, if anyone could tunnel out of a prison plane, she could) he wouldn’t know where she is. The likelihood of their paths crossing is pretty slim. Izzie might be able to contact him, but even that has limits.. He should’ve spent more time teaching her how to follow lines of cognition, damnit. Damnit. Damnit!
Yuo seethed, tears in his eyes. He had no idea where this Angel Way was taking him. The First Lord had royally fucked him over and its a miracle he’s not trapped with his friends, and maybe that would have been *kinder*. Kinder to at least know how they’re doing, to be able to protect them with his own hands, to not be alone in the middle of actual nowhere following fate without a purpose. What was he even going to do once he hit solid ground? He can’t exactly strike out at The First Lord, and he doesn’t know where most of his lieutenants are..
But.. He does know where Galbeth’s lieutenants are, and he really owes Galbeth a hell of a lot of payback. The McMuttons, Raimon, the Eyes of God, Stormbreaker, and trying to drop a building on Izzie.. He’d have to chase down a few rats before he could get to Galbeth, but making all of this easier for her.. He could look forward to that. He could hold his head high and say he finally did something right, if it meant it made it easier for her to reach The First Lord and finally stop him. Even if he couldn’t be there.. As long as she made it.. If she was alive..
He shook his head of the gloomy thoughts. Payback first. Galbeth would probably have something to help him get to her, anyway. Sure of his path, he looked out as far as he could see the angel way go. He had.. A long way to walk. He’d be out here awhile.. He’d just have to think of all the things he and Izzie could do together once they reunited, just like the last time two times they were apart..
